    This is the gateway to the Web of Science database as well as several freely accessible literature databases such as PubMed and Agricola. Here you can simultaneously search any number of these with a single search. Also, this is the access point for several personalization features such as alerting, and saved searches. Try the tutorial or attend online training sessions to learn how to use these features. Also, you may keep current on product updates with the monthly newsletter.

    The Science Citation Index Expanded is a multidisciplinary index, with searchable author abstracts, covering the journal literature of the sciences. It indexes more than 5,700 major journals across 164 scientific disciplines, covering approximately 2,100 more journals than its SCI print and CD-ROM counterparts, with all cited references captured. Search help includes Quick Reference Cards and Seminar Guide (both pdf), as well as an online Tutorial and Help section while searching. Pre-recorded training sessions are also available.

    Small NOAA logo Journal Citation Reports (Science Edition) 2006 -
    Journal Citation Reports (Science Edition) aggregates and tabulates citation and article counts as indicators of how frequently current researchers are using individual journals. It contains data from over 5,900 journals in science and technology allowing one to evaluate and compare journals. Help includes Using Journal Citation Reports Wisely as well as a table of contents for more specific questions. Pre-recorded training sessions are also available.

  • IngentaConnect (formerly Ingenta and Uncover)
    Free searching of over 28,000 publications from 1988 to present. Current Awareness email alerting service available as well. User account needed to receive alerts, but not for searching. Register as a NOAA affiliated user, or print and fax a form to have the library establish your account. RSS Feeds for new issue alerts are also available for most journal titles.

    Search over 4,500 electronic journals and access the full-text of those subscribed to by the NOAA Seattle Regional Library.

  • MedLine (PubMed)
    Life Science & biomedical bibliographic information, with 9 million records from 1965 to the present.   From the National Library of Medicine.

    In addition to the listed resources, INSPEC (physics, electronics computing), Chemical Abstracts, GEOREF, Science Citation Index, and other databases are available on Dialog in the library. Browse the databases and their guides available via the DIALOG Bluesheet Catalog.

    Free science-only search portal from Elsevier Inc. It currently covers the Web, the ScienceDirect database (containing 1,200 journals), Beilstein Abstracts and Medline. Multiple electronic document formats are included.

  • Google Scholar (Beta)
    Search specifically for scholarly literature, including peer-reviewed papers, theses, books, preprints, abstracts and technical reports from all broad areas of research. Finds articles from a wide variety of academic publishers, professional societies, preprint repositories and universities, as well as scholarly articles available across the web.   • IODE OceanPortal
    The OceanPortal is a high-level directory of Ocean Data and Information related web sites. Its objective is to help scientists and other ocean experts in locating such data & information.

  • arXiv.org e-Print archive
    Maintained by the Los Alamos National Laboratory. Covers mainly physics and mathematics. Similarly, the Computing Research Repository (CoRR) is a cooperative project.

  • Cite Seer
    The current database focuses on computer science articles. The software is available (no cost for non-commercial use) if you would like to create a database in another area.

  • Science Tracer Bullets (SCTB) Online
    A series of bibliographic guides designed to help persons locate published materials on a particular subject in the field of science and technology about which they have only a general knowledge.

  • Resource Discovery Network - A portal to selected sources of scientific information organized in collaboration with over 70 educational and research organizations in the UK.
